Having fun at 5,420 metres!
I’ve always been a really active person, and can often be seen cycling up to the gym for various classes. Eventually I discovered a yoga class there, and it felt as if I was always meant to do yoga but had just taken a while to find it. I put my mat at the back of the room and one hour later knew that I had found something that felt amazing in my body and connected with something in my mind as well. From then on I was a regular at as many yoga classes as I could get to, and did a Foundation Course to deepen my knowledge. Before long I found that I was beginning to bring aspects of my yoga practice into my life, after all yoga is a way of life of which the physical practice is just one part. This is when I realised that I wanted to teach, to share my joy of yoga and all that it entails.
I love that I have the tools to cope with whatever life throws at me, whether it is using a breathing practice to cope with a stressful situation or practicing a sun salutation in a quiet corner of an airport. I'm not saying that it is always easy to turn to these yoga tools, but sometimes just knowing that you have them to hand can be a help in itself.
On my yoga mat I can turn my focus inwards and move with the breath, trusting my body to move mindfully in the way that it needs. I enjoy the feeling of strength, the beautiful stretch and the sense of quiet calmness I get from my yoga practice.
In the summer of 2019 I qualified as a teacher with the British Wheel of Yoga (300 hours). I am also a Yin Yoga Teacher, Levels 1 & 2, and completed my Gentle Years Yoga Teacher qualification Autumn 2022.
It would be my absolute pleasure to share any of these practices with you.
